The Gilmore Girls Reading List

Thirteen Reasons Why Spoilers

Why is Clay on the tapes?

Apparently, just bloody because.

*In a whiny voice* He's so nice I just had to tell him and potentially scar him for life!

If he's so nice and all that, why didn't you just write a note and give it to Tony? Like, hey, Clay, I want to tell you my reasons why. Listen to the tapes, but know that YOU'RE NOT ACTUALLY ONE OF THE REASONS. I just, you know, wanted to involve you in my unrealistic level of drama. I'm sure you're not doing anything else and since we almost became a thing you're totally fine with this.

Giving Clay his own tape for his own "reason" was such a cop out. The way it is presented is bad writing. Here we are, thinking Clay actually did something wrong. But no. He...waited too long to tell Hannah he liked her? He left when she asked him to? He didn't pry and ask her what was wrong?

Nope, none of this constitutes a valid reason to involve him like this. He's just so nice and he doesn't really belong on these tapes, but oh well.

Nope, nope, nopedy-nope.

I know people are sick of the memes because it is about a touch subject, but to include Clay on the tapes, the seriousness goes out the window.

No, I didn't make this. The person who made this might also get a tape, according to Hannah.

So Why is Jessica on the Tapes?

SHE WAS SEXUALLY ASSAULTED. Yes, Hannah witnessed it. But now everyone who gets the tapes gets a play-by-play of arguably, the worst moment of Jessica's life. Yes, it is troubling for Hannah. She would be wracked with guilt. But what about Jessica, the girl who was actually raped? Destroy her privacy like with the Duggar scandal. Yes, they got into a petty fight before and are no longer friends. Just that alone isn't what put her on the list. It's because she was unconscious and raped in front of Hannah. Why wouldn't you attribute that moment to, oh, I don't know, the rapist?
